How my photos made WORLD WIDE NEWS!!

Talk about being at the right place at the right time!! In March of 2020, I looked outside my window towards Lake Sammamish and was in shock at what I saw! I immediately ran to grab my camera to capture this very rare occurrence known as a horizontal rainbow, scientifically named a Circumhorizonal Arc. Its a phenomenon that happens when the sun is below a 42 degree angle to the horizon. In its full form, the arc has the appearance of a large, brightly colored spectrum band running parallel to the horizon, as shown in my photos. This occurrence only lasted about 3 minutes before the rainbow started to rise and bend, but luckily, I was able to get a couple WOW shots when it was completely parallel to the lake.

I initially posted the photos to my Facebook and Instagram in hopes that it might bring people joy and peace during COVID-19. It was such a great reminder to me that no matter what it going on in our lives and in the world, God has everything under control; and we need to do our best not to opperate out of confusion, fear and uncertainty. Not only during these difficult times, but as a guideline for our life. I wasn't expecting these photos to make local news, let alone world wide news!! I was being contacted and interviewed daily by multiple media sources. I've sold many prints and have had tons of emails from people opening up to me about how much this photo has made an impact on their lives. I just feel so grateful how God chose me to help people in a way that I never expected; and through something that I'm passionate about!
